Jelly Tea: A Gamified Regimen Service for Youth Health

Revolutionizing Health Preservation with Chinese Tea and Gamification

Innovative designer Ziqing Lv introduces Jelly Tea, a unique regimen service that combines traditional Chinese medicine, functional food, and gamification to promote the health and well-being of young individuals.

In today's Chinese consumer market, young people born between 1995 and 2000 are increasingly turning to online platforms to purchase health care products. Recognizing this trend, designer Ziqing Lv embarked on a mission to create a functional food product that caters to the specific health needs of this demographic. The result is Jelly Tea, a system that not only provides immediate health benefits but also supports users in developing long-term healthy habits.

What sets Jelly Tea apart is its innovative use of Chinese medicine and food homologous materials as raw ingredients for the tea jelly. Unlike other functional foods on the market, Jelly Tea taps into the rich heritage of traditional Chinese herbs and ingredients, offering a unique and authentic health preservation experience.

But Jelly Tea is more than just a product. It is a gamified health system designed to engage and motivate users in maintaining healthy habits. The system incorporates vending machines as energy stations, allowing users to conveniently access Jelly Tea products. A mini program serves as a boot camp, providing online shopping and fun games to enhance the overall experience. Users are encouraged to complete daily tasks such as exercising for 30 minutes or maintaining a regular sleep schedule. Upon completing these missions, users unlock additional game content and physical rewards, making health preservation an enjoyable and rewarding journey.

The production technology behind Jelly Tea is well-established. Various methods, such as ultrasonic auxiliary enzymatic extraction and microwave extraction, are employed to extract the beneficial components from the tea while preserving its aroma. Each box of Jelly Tea contains four tea jelly pieces, with each piece measuring 50*50*20mm. The Chinese tea ingredient extraction and jelly production process ensures that each piece contains 25 grams of functional goodness.

Extensive research was conducted to develop Jelly Tea. User surveys, interviews, and model analysis were employed to understand the health concerns of young individuals. The research identified three key health issues: staying up late, excessive drinking, and unhealthy eating habits. Based on these findings, six different Jelly Tea products were created, each addressing a specific health concern and offering a unique taste and effect.

The challenges faced during the development of Jelly Tea were twofold. First, the extraction of functional components from the tea posed a technical challenge. The team had to find efficient methods to extract the nutrients while maintaining the tea's flavor. Second, the design of the gamification mechanism required creativity and innovation. The goal was to integrate health preservation into the daily lives of young people and encourage long-term healthy habits through engaging and entertaining means.

Jelly Tea has been well-received by the young generation, who appreciate its combination of traditional Chinese medicine, functional food, and gamification. The unique approach to health preservation has garnered recognition, with Jelly Tea being awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Meta, Strategic, and Service Design category in 2022. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

Jelly Tea is not just a product; it represents a new era of health preservation. By harnessing the power of Chinese tea and gamification, it empowers young individuals to take control of their health and develop lifelong habits that promote well-being and vitality.
